SILVER STEEL BURGLARY
Between Dec. 20 and Dec. 23, 2013, thieves broke into Silver Steel at 86 Truck Bypass Road. They cut a lock on a fence and then were able to enter the building. The took a welder, battery, insulation, wheelbarrow and much more for a loss of about $3,700. A reward of $500 is offered for information leading to an arrest.
On October 17, 2013, about 6:55pm, the Shoe Dept. on Hwy 180 was robbed by a gunman wearing a blue ski mask. He is described as a hispanic male about 5'8" to 5'9" inches tall. He fled on foot. A reward of $750 is being offered.
On November 7, 2013, at 7pm, the Smoke Shop was robbed of cash and cigarettes. The suspect was armed with a handgun. He is described as light skinned and tall. A reward of $750 is offered.
BURGLARY - COTTAGE SAN ROAD FIRE STATION
On October 14, 2013 it was discovered that thieves had forced open the door lock to the fire station on Cottage Sans Road. They stole over $55,000 worth of fire fighting and EMT equipment. Some of the stolen items include portable radios, chargers, fire shelters, air tools, generators, chain saw, filter masks, Jaws of Life, axes and halogen lights.
The Fire Department is offering a $1,000 reward which will be matched by a $1,000 reward by Crime Stoppers for a total reward of $2,000. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
The Silver Spirit Gallery at the corner of Broadway and Arizona Streets in Silver City was robbed on February 12 and again on April 24. Each time the suspect demanded money. He is described as a white male in the 30s, 5'7" to 5'10" with a thin build. He was wearing a gray ski mask. A $750 reward will be paid for information leading to an arrest on both cases.
SAN LORENZO BURGLARY
On January 31, 2013, thieves broke into a home at 81 Ortiz Road in San Lorenzo. They stole 20 guns, valuable art work including sculptures and trashed the house. A $1,000 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
Crime Stoppers will pay a $500 reward for information that leads to the arrest of each of the following individuals with outstanding warrants:
Andy Padilla - wanted for aggravated burglary, deadly weapon, conspiracy, abuse of child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and aggravated assault.
Trevor Franco - wanted for receiving stolen property in excess of $2,500.
Tanner Gonzales - wanted for receiving stolen property in excess of $2,500.
BURGLARY AT CONNER'S JEWELRY
On January 21, 2013, Conner's Fine Jewelers at 401 N. Bullard in Silver City, was broken into. Thieves stole watches and miscellaneous jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers. A reward of $500 will be paid for information that leads to an arrest.
Between December 12 and December 13, someone broke into Gila Auto Sales. Computer equipment was taken. A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
Between December 11 and December 12 someone broke into a vehicle at Bayard and Market Streets in Silver City. Stereo and electronic equipment was taken. A $500 reward is offered for information leading to an arrest.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY IN MULE CREEK
Someone has been urinating in the Post Office in Mule Creek. It has happened late at night on August 28, September 6 and December 6. Anyone with information as to who is doing this disgusting act is urged to call Crime Stoppers. A $500 reward will be paid for information leading to an arrest.
SEVEN HOMES BURGLARIZED IN GRANT COUNTY
Crime Stoppers is offering a $750 reward for information that leads to an arrest for all cases.
On May 26, 2012 a mobile home in Rio de Arenas was broken into. Thieves stole a Play Station, .22 rifle, Zippo lighters, a laptop computer and a saddle.
On the same day someone entered a home on Mountain View while occupants were present and took a laptop computer. The suspect vehicle was possibly a white SUV.
On May 30, 2012, a resident on North Hurley Road returned home to find personal papers and a computer missing.
On May 31, 2012, residents returned home to find two bottles of medication missing. Two suspicious males were seen near the victim's driveway.
On June 2, 2012, thieves broke into a home on Iglesia Street in Hanover. The living room furniture including a couch, loveseat, entertainment center, television, VCR were taken. Also missing were a washer and dryer, a futon, a nightstand, queen size bed and gas grill.
On the same day unknown persons took a weed trimmer, various tools and a drill from a storage building connected to the residence on Spring Street in Pinos Altos.
On June 3, 2012, a home on Artcher Road was entered. Missing were a 70 inch television and speakers, two Play Station 3s, BlueRay DVDs, a microwave, two engagement rings, a laptop computer a 47 inch flat screen television, an iPad and belt buckles.
About 10pm on April 20, twenty-two year old Roberto Garcia Benavidez was found dead on the 300 block of Aztec Street in Hurley. He was found to have died from blunt force trauma to the back of the head. Witnesses heard some yelling and a white sedan was seen leaving the scene. Crime Stoppers is offering $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
David Ortiz, 19, was last seen on 10/31/10. He is described as an Hispanic male, 5 feet tall, 110 pounds, brown hair and eyes. He was wearing a blue long sleeve sweater with a black t-shirt over it and black shorts. Anyone with information as to David's whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers. David's parents are extremely worried and his one-year old son misses him terribly. A reward of up to $2,000 will be paid for information that leads to David's location.
